WINTER 2006

SHOCK-O AT CHICAGO FANGO

Shock-O-Rama Cinema and veteran horror filmmaker Brett Piper’s latest fright film, Shock-O-Rama, played to a near capacity audience at the Fangoria "Weekend of Horrors," held March 4 - 5, at the Wyndham O'Hare Hotel in Chicago, IL. The Saturday 4:00 PM event marked the second time that Piper’s gruesome, fx-filled, monster movie adventure earned the distinct honor of screening at a Fangoria show, the first being at the September 2005 "Weekend of Horrors," in East Rutherford, NJ.

As a special treat to fans, director Brett Piper and star Misty Mundae (co-star of each of Piper’s previous films for Shock-O-Rama Cinema – Screaming Dead and Bite Me!) flew in from New Jersey to appear "live and in person" throughout the weekend. Both director and actress welcomed fans to the Saturday Shock-O-Rama screening; took part in a Q&A session, Sunday at 3:30pm (following the James Gunn/Slither panel discussion); and sat themselves down at the Shock-O-Rama Cinema table post Q&A to meet fans and sign pre-release Shock-O-Rama DVDs and limited edition, complimentary packets of Shock-O 8"x10" lobby cards. Convention attendees seemed quite pleased with the opportunity to meet Brett Piper, who typically shuns public attention, and ‘B’ star Misty Mundae, whose mainstream profile continues to rise.

The Chicago convention was a dynamic, exciting and well attended show with many cool special guests including genre legends George Romero, Stuart Gordon and John Carpenter – the latter two directors on hand to promote the first two DVDs from the Masters of Horror series. Shock-O-Rama Cinema would like to thank Fangoria’s Tony Timpone, Michael Gingold and Rita Eisenstein for their continuing support and the opportunity to once again "premiere" a film at the prestigious "Weekend of Horrors."

BRETT PIPER & MISTY MUNDAE AT FANGORIA "WEEKEND OF HORRORS"

Join indie horror label/studio Shock-O-Rama Cinema, cult horror director Brett Piper and 'B' movie starlet Misty Mundae (Bite Me, Screaming Dead) for the Fangoria "Weekend of Horrors", Saturday & Sunday, March 4 & 5, 2006, at the Wyndham O'Hare Hotel, in Chicago, IL. Piper and Mundae will be appearing throughout the weekend to promote the upcoming home video release of Shock-O-Rama (DVD Release Date April 25, 2006) - Piper's newest fright film starring the popular Mundae, who has co-starred in each of the veteran horror meister's films for Shock-O-Rama Cinema including Screaming Dead and Bite Me! ei and Shock-O-Rama Cinema are both pleased and proud to announce that Shock-O-Rama will also screen at the Weekend of Horrors - its Chicago premiere! This follows up the film's first ever screening at the September '05 "Weekend of Horrors," in the Meadowlands, New Jersey, where convention attendees enthusiastically received Shock-O-Rama. ei Cinema President Michael Raso considers a Fangoria screening, "…quite a privilege and one that Shock-O-Rama Cinema will always strive to treat as such. Fangoria is the number one horror publication in the world, and when they embrace a film that we have produced, licensed or acquired, how can we not be totally thrilled and honored?" Needless to say, Raso hopes that Chicago horror fans will make it their business to attend Fango's Chicago Con and check out Brett Piper's gruesome, grotesque, horror comics-inspired monster movie adventure, which also stars ei regulars Julian Wells, Caitlin Ross, A.J. Khan, Rob Monkiewicz and Michael Thomas.

The "Weekend of Horrors" represents Misty Mundae's first convention appearance in over a year with Shock-O-Rama Cinema, who is thrilled to have her participation in what will surely be an exciting promotional event in support of Shock-O-Rama. Heavy duty Misty fans eager to meet their favorite 'B' star need wait no longer.

SCREAMING DEAD GOES TO TV

Screaming Dead, the first film written & directed by cult horror veteran Brett Piper for ei’s Shock-O-Rama Cinema horror label, has recently been picked up by the Starz/Encore channel/network. It started airing in December 2005 and represents the first Shock-O-Rama Cinema horror film to play on premium broadcast TV.

After premiering at the 2004 Fangoria “Weekend of Horrors,” the eagerly anticipated Screaming Dead was released to home video in March 2004, and it quickly became Shock-O-Rama’s most successful and popular film to date. Fans and critics alike enjoyed the haunted insane asylum shocker – shot at the abandoned Marlboro State Psychiatric Hospital – which starred acclaimed ‘B’ beauty Misty Mundae in her first horror role. Screaming Dead also enjoyed the distinction of being the first independent ‘B’ horror movie to be play on MovieLink.com – the feature film streaming site run by the major U.S. motion picture studios.
